Chess entered Sergio Camargo's practice in 1973 through a commission that also marked the beginning of his research with black stone. The logic of the game echoes his artistic proposal: both require attention, concentrated looking, and the precise combination of elements to generate new possibilities. Neither chess nor Camargo's sculptures seek immediate entertainment; instead, they invite patient observation and careful thought.

Camargo created several versions of chess sets throughout his career. Here, we present three reproductions, available for the public to play. It is an invitation to observation and imagination, to explore the countless possibilities arising from the combination of movements.
