For Sergio Camargo, the studio was a privileged space for reflection. He occupied several studios throughout his career. The first, in 1954, in Laranjeiras, Rio de Janeiro, was also frequented by the artist Frans Krajcberg. When he moved to Paris, Camargo set up his studio in Malakoff, in a renovated former stable. In Italy, he worked in Alfredo Soldani's studio near the Carrara mountains, in Massa, where his marble works were produced. When he returned to Brazil in 1973, Camargo built a new workspace on a property in Jacarepaguá, designed by architect José Zanine Caldas. What is presented here is a free reconstruction of that studio, with pieces and tools used by the artist in his final years.
